Documentary Film: Portrait of a Champion

For two years, we worked quietly behind the scenes on Portrait of a Champion, a documentary capturing Roger Federer’s involvement in a secret art installation by renowned Swiss artist Ugo Rondinone. The plan was to explore the intersection of artistry and athleticism—a portrait of Roger as more than a champion, but as an icon in motion.

Then, everything changed. During filming, Federer announced his retirement, and the story shifted. What began as a look at his present evolved into a reflection on his legacy—a tribute to his impact on sport, culture, and the world.

Shot with precision and care, the film became something bigger than we imagined. A celebration of greatness and the enduring mark left behind, it found its home on Peacock, where audiences could experience Roger Federer’s story in a way they hadn’t before.
